Setting Icons and the Icon Manager

You can add a Waypoint to the map either by right clicking on the map on PC/macOS or a long press on mobiles.

If you then right click, or long press on the waypoint, and choose Styles->Waypoint Icon you will see a list of possible icons to choose from. This list of icons is your ‘Favourites’ list, and simply choose one to alter the icon on the map. If you don’t see an icon you wish to use, click on ‘more…’ and the Icon Manager will open, so you can choose from the available icons. If you don’t wish to associate an icon with the Waypoint, then simply click on ‘No Icon’.

The Icon Manager arranges the icons into folders. You can create folders and organize the icons. You can also import your own icons. If you highlight an icon and click on the Heart button on PC/macOS, or tap and select ‘Favourite’ on the mobiles, you will toggle an icons Favourite state. An icon which is labelled as Favourite will show up in the quick Favourites list when you right click / long press on a Waypoint and select Waypoint Icon from the Styles menu.

If you press sync on the Icon Manager, your changes will be synched with Anquet Cloud allowing you to sync your changes to your other devices.

GPX Format – Behind the scenes

All of the data that is displayed on the map is saved in GPX format, and within that format, icons are defined by a tag: such as Ball Blue As this tag needs to be unique, we don’t allow duplicate waypoint names within the Icon Manager. When you use the option of ‘No Icon’ we are in fact clearing the Sym tag from the GPX file for the selected Waypoint.

On a PC/macOS, you can select the columns that you view in the GPX Editor (GE), and if you choose ‘Symbol’ you will have a column listing the icon names applied to each waypoint/routepoint.

On mobiles, you can select this information in Settings->Waypoint Information and then view it on the information screen within the GPX Editor.
